Embedded and hardware engineering project, Turin, Italy. 2025.
Key contributions
- Developed a layered firmware architecture on STM32F4: register-level bare-metal peripheral control at the lower layer, motor control algorithms and user-interaction logic at the application layer
- Designed FPGA modules in HDL for high-speed signal processing and implemented a UART protocol for reliable MCU-FPGA data exchange and command transfer
- Designed the peripheral circuitry for the motor driver IC and current-sense IC: calculated gate resistor and bootstrap capacitor values, selected decoupling capacitors, and determined the current-sense amplifier configuration
- Completed the full PCB flow in EasyEDA: schematic capture, multi-layer routing, DRC, and Gerber generation
- Debugged hardware and firmware with J-Link, oscilloscope, and logic analyzer, verifying PWM waveforms, validating the UART protocol, and tracing system timing issues
